James Madison University Campus Ministry

Fostering community, justice, & spirituality among Unitarian Universalists at James Madison University

This group will begin again in the Fall for the new school year.

BYOS - Bring Your Own Spirituality is the JMU Campus Ministry Group sponsored by the UU Church of Harrisonburg. It is a small group of students at JMU and in the local area. We welcome everyone looking for good conversation and meaningful religious dialogue, as well as fun and friendship. Many of us have grown up UUs, some are searching for a religion, and others are new to UUism. We love to hear different perspectives and all religious backgrounds are welcomed.

Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religious tradition that affirms that religious inspiration comes from many sources—direct experience and mysticism, prophetic women and men, the world’s religions, Jewish and Christian teachings, humanism and science, and earth-based spiritualities. We encourage people to develop their own worldviews while together engaging in social justice—working to end oppressions like racism and homophobia, and to save the environment. For more information, check out the Unitarian Universalist Association national website, www.uua.org and its Young Adult and Campus Ministry site www.uua.org/ya-cm.
