Harrisonburg UU

We are a lay-led, religious community offering a unique spiritual and moral witness in the Shenandoah Valley. We meet each Sunday in the historic Dale Enterprise School House. Most of our services have a community dialogue or "talk back" after the service. Each of our services is followed by coffee and refreshments in our "Community Cafe." Quite often the dialogue will carry over to the community cafe.

12th Annual Blacks Run Clean Up Day

Hope you can reserve Saturday, April 11, 8 am-1 pm, on your calendar for the 12th annual Blacks Run clean up day in honor of Earth Day. Meet at the green space beside the farmer’s market pavilion (between the DN-R and the Municipal Bldg). Volunteer and enjoy the games, music and exhibits all morning, and free lunch for clean-up volunteers. Read more about the event and other clean-waterway preservation work at http://www.cleanstream.org/ or call 540-437-1258.

Note to Hburg newcomers: Blacks Run is the often-neglected stream that runs through town. Last year’s clean-up day drew more than 500 volunteers.

Note to all: Our Social Justice Committee is interested in taking part in this and drumming up UU involvement, hopefully registering as a group. Look for more about that.

Want to wear an eye-catching, bright Kelly green T-shirt with UU logos–for the Blacks Run cleanup and/or any occasion?? If you looked in your closet this morning for something to wear on St. Patrick’s day, that shirt might have been what you found…or wished you had, if you never got one. The committee still has some to sell! (See Linda Royster.) And may the road rise to meetcha.
