Holiday Events at HUU
With the Holidays quickly approaching, mark your calendars now for upcoming events at HUU! All events will be help at the HUU Fellowship Building.
THE HANGING OF THE GREENS
Sunday December 4th
No, we don’t have a family named “Green” and we would not hang them if we did! Rather we will gather following the potluck to celebrate the coming of the Holidays and to decorate HUU for the season. We will decorate inside and out, make Holiday Yule Wreaths for each who wishes to take one home and light it weekly as a way of counting down, make cookies and drink cocoa, and decorate the children’s tree with their homemade symbols ! Join us for a fun afternoon together!
Popcorn Theology Movie Night
Sunday December 11th, 6:00 pm
Join us for the first of several “Popcorn Theology” movies. We will gather at HUU to view the classic, “It’s A Wonderful Life.” A discussion will follow of Unitarian Universalist Theology themes that we saw in the film. FREE POPCORN, SODA, ICED TEA AND COFFEE! Come out and see an old favorite in a new Light!
HUU Annual Holiday Dinner
Saturday, December 17th, 6pm until
HUU's traditional Christmas dinner will be held on December 17 at 6PM. The Lawson's will provide the turkey, and the congregation will provide the rest of this festive potluck meal. Sign-up sheets will appear closer to the date.
Christmas Eve Service
Saturday December 24th, 5:00 pm
We gather on this night that means many different things to all of us. We gather to celebrate the coming of light, hope, and new beginnings. Rev. Mike will speak on: And the Word Became Flesh. We will sing favorite carols and light candles to remind us of light in the darkness.
Winter Solstice Service: Rekindling the Light
Sunday December 25th, 10:30 am
Yes, Christmas is on a Sunday this year. David and Sarah will lead us through a beautiful Solstice Service of hope and renewal as we celebrate the changing seasons and the increase of light! Come for a quiet and reflective morning together. NO Children’s RE or Growing Together.
WHO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A NEW YEARS EVE CELEBRATION?
Many of us are not into the party circuit of New Year’s Eve…. but may still want to gather with friends to bring in the New Year. If you would like to be part of a New Year’s Eve gathering here at HUU, contact
Mike Quayle at reconciler2004@yahoo.com
We would gather at 9:30 pm or so, bring hour devours to share, maybe a movie, music, dancing ???
At midnight we will ring out the old and ring in the new with a toast and a bit of noise then head home having spent good time with good friends!!!
